The 2017 Adelaide Boat Show will not only Showcase the latest boats, equipment and services but will also provide a platform for learning and knowledge sharing. Here’s a run-down of what’s on at this year’s show.
  • Greg James Boating and Fishing Stage

    Greg James is a fifth-generation South Aussie who has enjoyed a life based around the sea for over 50 years – fishing, surfing, sailing or diving – as well as being a passionate rec fisher.

    So, if you love boating and fishing, Greg will be on stage to give you hot tips on how to get the best boat for your brass and what you should do with it. He will introduce you to his guests with some great information about new technology, you will hear about his passion for secret places to go fishing and he will share with you his love of family boating.   • Kids just want to have fun
    The Adelaide Boat Show is an experience for the whole family so we have put together a free kids zone in the Jubilee Pavilion. Take the kids over to play on the giant inflatable slide, the bouncy castle or play some giant games. There’s even a Kids Fishing Casting Competition at the Greg James Stage.
  • Demo & Trial Pool
    Available for the first time at the Adelaide Boat Show, make sure you check out the pool, where visitors can try some of the latest equipment including Kayaks and SUP’s from water sport giant - Hobie.

  • Fishing Simulator Fun
    Be one of the first in SA to experience the latest model Indoor Fishing Simulator, and they’re free to play.

    Get warmed up, do your stretches, then step into one of the Indoor Fishing Boats: The SS Mino or the Titanic, and put your skills to the test. Watch the fight play out in front of you on the big screens and experience a realistic fight with any of 5 Aussie Fish species. Land the fish of your dreams and bring home the trophy.

    Plus you can go in the draw to Win an Indoor Fishing Simulator to have at home.
  • Wakeboard SA
    Head over to Wakeboard SA at site 315 in the Goyder Pavilion and enjoy the interactive entertainment and talk with their members about wakeboarding.
  • Sit for your Boat License at the Show
    Presentations on the Greg James Stage at 11.00 am and 2.00pm Saturday & Sunday.

    The information sessions are an invaluable aid to persons wishing to attempt the license exam, but also for existing boaters who may need to refresh their knowledge.

    For those intending to take the exam, bookings must be made at the Volunteer Coast Guard stand and the fees will be $40 for persons 16 years and over, or $15 for persons from 12 to 15 years who wish to obtain a Special permit to Operate a Motor Vessel.

    The exam is a 50-question multiple choice paper, and it is strongly advised that candidates engage in learning prior to attendance at the show to ensure success. The SA Recreational Boating Handbook is available at Service SA centres and boating retailers and also online. A practice exam is available at www.ondeck.sa.gov.au and will also be available at terminals during the boat show at the DPTI marine Operations “Respecting Our Waters” Stand.
  • Wonders of Wooden Boats
    Visit the Duck Flat Wooden Boat display in the Jubilee Pavilion and experience the wonders of wooden boat building and refurbishing. Their display will include a number of wooden boats, dinghies, kit displays and interactive boat building demos.
